A J Russell - THE SECRET OF GREATNESS

very rare OG book. read description for more details.

THE SECRET OF GREATNESS

by

A. J. Russell

Author of "FOR SINNERS ONLY"

A J Russell was possible the most widely read author of the Oxford Group.

This book is likely the rarest of all his titled.  Actually I have never seen another copy of this book and I don't know of another one to be found.  I've been looking for quite some time.

Although the book is undated the inside dustjacket flap has the following statement:

IF YOU THINK -

(1) Religion is not worth while.

(2) It never did anything for anybody, anyway.

(3) It's not the answer to the problems of 1946 and 1947

- THEN READ THIS BOOK

This book is 78 pages and packed with information.

From the jacket;

 How six great men that overcame failure and discouragement and found an answer through the return to religion.

contents;

1. THE STATESMAN

2. THE EXPLORER

3. THE POET

4. THE SAILOR

5. THE SOLDIER

6. THE SCIENTIST

Please see pictures for additional information regarding the six men.

This book is in very good condition for the age.  The staples are rusty and it looks like the book was poorly constructed, but has held together well.

The best description of the construction of the book is a paperback board book with a dustjacket.  If you're familiar with "When Man Listens" the Oxford group book it's like that although not exactly.

Even though I would not say that this is an Oxford Group book, I would say that the author being the single most read OG author of all time was strongly suggesting that the men he wrote about in this book were living by principles of a changed live.
