FARMINGTON HILL'S FIRST ANNIVERSARY GROUP MESSAGE TO BILL W.
WIRE RECORDING
This will likely be the only opportunity that you will ever have to actually own an item that was personal to Bill W. The items listed on this website that have come from the personal library of Bill W are the only known items held in the private market that can be authenticated as having been owned by Bill W.
This is another “wire recording” from Lois W that was donated to the Midwest tape Library.
This recording was made by George H. from the Detroit, MI. He brought his recorded to the anniversary meeting and had all the guests listen to a recording of Bill W that was made in Memphis 1947. After hearing the recording George recorded each of those present as they said hello to Bill W and sent best wishes.
A gentleman named Lew W brought the recording to Bill W. in NY. There are many people on this recording, all briefly thanking Bill for his kind words and support. After the Farmington group, all gave best wishes to Bill. The wire was brought to a gathering in Chicago where the recording from Bill was also played. This group also individually thanked Bill.
The people on the recording all gave first and last names and some references were made to the traditions and Bill’s recent Grapevine article. This recording was made in 1947.
After the groups made their short comments to Bill, George H went into a much more detailed correspondence. George refers to a recording made in Madison of Austin R and others. He also talks about a “WWJ program” and then suggests that Bill W. should document the A.A. history.
Several other personal comments were made as well, including an invitation to Bill and Lois to visit George and his wife in Florida during the winter.
The buyer will receive a CD of the communication, plus copies of the letters from Lois.
